Winter in the backcountry brings its own set of challenges. As temperatures drop and daylight fades, risks increase, and preparedness becomes paramount.
Think you could survive an emergency while enjoying your winter adventures? Confident that you know what to pack for any situation that Mother Nature throws your way? How Not to Die is a one-of-a-kind interactive event hosted in partnership with REI, King County Explorer Search and Rescue, Washington Trails Association, and Kula Cloth. Join us to test your backcountry survival knowledge in unexpected scenarios! Practice packing for several scenarios, then test your knowledge as you get thrown into a survival challenge and see how well you did. Hear gripping real-life stories from King County Explorer Search and Rescue so you can learn from other experiences and how you can contact Search and Rescue in an emergency. If that is not enough, the event will culminate with a Do’s and Don’ts of fashion when dressing for success in the outdoors.
