Teamsters, Turtles, and Beyond: The Legacy of the Seattle WTO Protests

Through April 27
MOHAI, 860 Terry Avenue
Free with MOHAI admission

Step back into November 1999, when the World Trade Organization (WTO) conference ignited one of Seattle’s most defining political moments. The protests—dubbed the “Battle of Seattle”—brought together environmentalists, labor advocates, and global activists in a movement that reshaped conversations on democracy, trade, and activism.

Curated by UW History Professor James Gregory, this exhibit commemorates the 25th anniversary of the WTO protests. Through artifacts, immersive images, and firsthand accounts, visitors can explore the event’s impact on policing, global trade policy, and civic movements. Whether you’re reliving the memories or learning for the first time, this thought-provoking exhibit invites reflection on democracy’s evolving challenges.

Peter Gronquist: The Alchemist

Through March 1
Winston Wächter Fine Art, 203 Dexter Ave N
Free

Peter Gronquist’s latest work blurs the lines between painting and sculpture, creating mesmerizing pieces that feel alive. With surfaces resembling geological formations and vibrant color palettes of gold and pink, each piece tells a story of transformation.

Using unconventional materials like resin, ash, and even atomized vinyl records, Gronquist’s process is as captivating as his results. His creations evoke a sense of ritual, destruction, and rebirth, asking viewers to rethink what art can be. Don’t miss this exploration of texture and emotion in one of South Lake Union’s premier galleries.
