The complex labor history of Seattle’s central waterfront has involved many players and strong unions over the decades.
Despite the IWW’s (International Workers of the World) strength in Washington State in the early 20th century, waterfront laborers were not buying into their organizing goal of One Big Union. Hear from Conor Casey, head of the Labor Archives of Washington, possible reasons for why this integration didn’t occur during the heyday of labor radicalism.
