Join us at MOHAI for a special showing of The 5th Avenue Theatre’s Educational Touring Company’s brand-new production of Songs of the Moon: Fantastical Folktales from Asia.
Three Asian American students gather on a crisp autumn evening to decorate their neighborhood park in preparation of the mid-Autumn Harvest Festival celebrating the moon, but they can’t decide which story they should perform for their community: should it be Sun and Moon (a Korean folktale), The Jade Rabbit (a Vietnamese folktale), or The Moon Lady (a Chinese folk tale)? As they journey through each story, they realize the significant role folk tales and oral storytelling hold in bridging intergenerational connections, creating opportunities for social and emotional growth, and preserving cultural heritage.
50-minute performance plus a 10-minute Q&A with the cast.
